Verifying your account: accepted documents (Ontario)
To keep your account secure and meet our licensing requirements, we need to confirm your identity and address before you can withdraw. Most customers only need to do this once.
What you'll need
Proof of identity: a valid government-issued photo ID.
Proof of address: a recent document showing your full name and home address.
Proof of identity (one of):
Passport
Ontario driver's licence
Ontario Photo Card
Canadian permanent resident card
Proof of address (one of, dated within the last 3 months):
Utility bill (electricity, gas, water, internet or phone)
Bank or credit card statement from a Canadian financial institution
Property tax or municipal tax bill
Letter from a government body, such as the Canada Revenue Agency
Verifying with a passport? A passport confirms your identity but doesn't show your address, so you'll also need one of the proof of address documents above. An Ontario driver's licence showing your current address can be used for both.
Making sure your document is accepted
Before uploading, check that:
It's in date. Expired ID can't be accepted.
The whole document is visible. All four corners, nothing cropped or covered.
It's clear and readable. No blur, glare or shadows.
The name and address match your account.
It's the right type. A passport can't be used as proof of address.
Proof of address is dated within the last 3 months.
Screenshots of online banking aren't accepted. Please download the statement as a PDF, or upload a photo of a paper statement.
How to upload
Log in and go to My Account > Upload Documents.
Choose the document type you're uploading.
Upload a photo or PDF (JPG, PNG or PDF, up to 10 MB).
Submit. The document will show as Pending while we review it.
Not sure whether a document will be accepted? Send us a photo in chat and we'll check it before you upload.
How long does verification take?
Most reviews are completed within 24 hours of your upload. Some accounts need extra checks, which can take up to 72 hours. We'll email you as soon as your review is complete.
