Setting up and using Nomi Pulse

Track spending automatically, get notified before you go over budget, and top up a Space in one tap - no need to open the app.

Written by John Byrne

Nomi Pulse keeps you on top of your spending in real time — automatically sorting your purchases, alerting you when you're close to a budget limit, and letting you top up a Space instantly, right from the notification.

What Nomi Pulse does

Automatic purchase categorization
Every purchase you make is automatically sorted into a spending category (like Groceries, Transport, or Entertainment) as it happens — no manual tagging required. Pulse learns from your spending patterns to keep categorization accurate over time.

Budget alerts
Set a monthly budget for any category, and Pulse will send you an instant notification as soon as you're trending over that limit — not at the end of the month, when it's too late to adjust.

One-tap transfers from the notification
If you're over budget in one category, you can cover the gap immediately — tap the notification and move funds from another Space directly, without opening the app or navigating to your accounts.

How to set it up

  1. Open the Nomi tab and select Pulse.

  2. Choose which Spaces you'd like Pulse to monitor.

  3. Set a monthly budget for each spending category you want to track.

  4. Turn on notifications for budget alerts (recommended, so you get real-time warnings).

How the one-tap transfer works

When you receive a budget alert, you'll see a Transfer option directly in the notification. Tapping it opens a quick transfer screen showing your other Spaces — pick one, confirm the amount, and the funds move instantly, without needing to unlock or navigate the full app.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change a category if a purchase is miscategorized?
Yes — tap the transaction and select "Change category." Pulse will remember this the next time you shop at the same merchant.

Will I be notified every time I make a purchase?
No — Pulse only notifies you when you're trending over a budget you've set, not for every transaction.

Can I turn off budget alerts for specific categories only?
Yes, budget tracking and alerts can be toggled individually per category in Pulse settings.
